I am trying to get my solaris box on our windows network. After completing the below mentioned steps, I am still not able to ping another box on the network or surf the internet. If I configure the same IP address (as on the Solaris box) on a windows machine on the same network, the windows machine says that "There is a IP conflict." So I assume that the netowrk card and IP address are configured correctly on the solaris box.

Looking forward for a quick respose.

Steps performed till now:

I have configured the hosts name, default router, netmasks, etc based on the tutorials from various websites including (http://solaris-x86.org/documents/guides/interfaces.mhtml).

Also,I have disabled my BIOS APIC. (http://forum.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=11&threadID=14244).

After making the above changes, rebooted the machine.

Have you tried using:

ipconfig -a

to determine if the card has the correct inforamtion?

Does it work when you try and ping your ip address at the solaris box?

Scratch what I said earlier

Meant to say

ifconfig -a

You should have a local host and what Network interface card device name is. Example rtls0 "0" = for first device

check to determine if you have the card "up" or not.

ifconfig rtls0 up
