Subject: SSH segmentation fault on Solaris 8 x86
Comment:

Hi,

I downloaded the openssh from www.sunfreeware.com/
I've installed zlib, egd, openssl, prngd, tcp-wrappers. When i tried to do a sshkeygen, or run ssh, it fails with a segmentation fault with core dump. What's wrong with the setting? I followed the intructions listed in http://www.sunfreeware.com/openssh.html

Can someone enlighten?
Thanks.

Did you download a version of SSH that is compatible with the i386 version of Solaris? Or did you download a version that will work only with SPARC?

Please reply,

Herman

Greetings,

I have the very same problem and it may have
something to do with the C compiler.
Plus, YES - OpenSSH, OpenSSL, TCP-Wrappers,
Prngd, EGD, Zlib was downloaded from the
Solaris 8 INTEL area of sunfreeware and
it was of the latest versions.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I had exectly the same. The problem was library path. I do not remember exectly but ssh was looking for somthing in /lib but it somthing in /usr/local/lib. When I am on Solaris machin I'll give more details.

Yeah you may want to

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
or

setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/local/lib:/usr/lib
for csh

(I think)

then compile/do whatever you were trying to do.

that should help
