Subject: Which Solaris on e450?
OS: Solaris 8
CPU/Ram: 3 400Mhz Sparc/1GB

Hi all!

After a hassle with the seriell cable I bought a graphic card. Now I can install an OS. The question is which one? I started with 8 because that came with the machine. I saw that you can download version 9 and 10 as well. The e450 is in the HWCL of all three.
Thanks for hints!

Regards,
h.

9 is better than 8 by a good margin. 10 is nicer still. Try 10.

Could you explain why 10? Do you have experiences with a e450 and sol 10? Are there drawbacks? I want a system which runs mysql/apache/php4.
Thanx!

h.

You can download either for free. Try one, then try the other.

I've run sol 10 on some intel hardware and like it but because of the need for ultra II processor, I haven't put it on my sparc hardware.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, right it is for free anyway. I downloaded 10 now and I stranded because I don't have a mouse. However I ordered one.
I just thought that maybe someone nows what to choose befor I put 8 and 9 and 10 on it. Somebody told me "Don't take 10 on such an old box like the e450."
Ok, I'll walk thru that now.
Bye,
h.

An e450 is not an old machine. I plan to put 10 on any hardware that supports it.
