Our system hangs after the verifying dmi pool message. From looking up suggestions here I followed the tips from an old post: http://www.computing.net/windows2000/wwwboard/forum/24707.html and the only one still online is from maxtor in a different location: http://maxtor.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/maxtor.cfg/php/enduser/olh_adp.php?p_faqid=1044
What are the bios defaults and the setup defaults that it suggests? Do they refer to the fail safe defaults and the optomized defaults which are the only ones we see?

Reply: get just a flashing _ in the upper left corner? Indicates no master boot record. First step after checking that the bios properly reports the drive is to go into recovery console and run fixmbr and fixboot. If you suspect disk issues download the drive manufacturers diagnosics and run them. Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Reply: remove and try each piece of ram, ive had this once, i put a new piece in and it wouldnt go any furthur than checking dmi pool data
