I want to setup a Windows 2003 server for another location with it's own IP Address and promote to a domain controller but I want to set everything up in my local office. I know it can be done but I have not done it. Has anyone done it before or know how I can go by doing this?

The exact how to on that is at the MS site. I just don't have a link to it right now. You'd have to search. Might be on technet or part of Server site.

Promote it when at the local office. In sites and services you need to add the remote subnet into AD. You would also be advised that it would also be a dns server[ad intergrated] so name resolution doesn't travel across the wire.

Now this is all assuming you are adding a DC to your existing forest and you have a wan connection between sites.

If you are just preconfiguring to do a remote deploy its just like any first DC in the forest setup. Once setup shut it down and ship it.
