Comment: I have a test server setup with windows server 2003. Very basic box. I have RRAS setup and it allows vpn connections, but only under pptp. I tried installing certificate authority and issuing a server certificate on the server. The workstation I've been using to connect to the vpn is my desktop at work which is part of a domain. This domain does not include the 2003 server that I have rras setup on. I installed a client auth certificate on my workstation and try to connect to the rras vpn and I get the error message: "The L2TP connection attempt failed because there is no valid machine certificate on your computer for security authentication". Is there any idea what I may be doing wrong here? Test server: Windows 2003 Server SP2 on a workgroup Test station: Windows XP SP2 on a domain. Both machines are connected to the same internal LAN.
