You can start by googling hosts file. Download and follow the instructions for using one of the prepopulated hosts file that contains blacklisted sites. This will address your spyware/going to malware sites.

To stop p2p you need a router that will block the traffic. My gigabit netgear has a config page that will block them.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search
