Comment: I'm a newbie, so please bear with me. My boss wants me to set up an SQL server, but I've never done anything with SQL before. How easy is it to learn? What's the method, learn by doing or getting a book? Also, the company has copies of SQL Server 2000 & 2005. While I would naturally want to install 2005, is there an advantage to going with 2000 instead? What's the difference? Thanks!

Reply: Have your boss send you to MS training. You will be glad you went. Setting up sql is just a matter of following the setup wizard. What you are going to do with it after that is another story. Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/FindInfo.html
