Subject: Bad hard drive?OS: Windows 95CPU/Ram: Old as dirt |
Comment: I've got my original Pentium 133 here just went to grab some old files off it and on start up I get the message operating system not found. I go into bios (fixed disk setup) and under all the IDE adaptors it says none. I assume this means it is not recognizing the hard drive. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks.

Reply: CMOS battery is likely dead or close to it. Might check in the BIOS for any hard drive autodetect options, and maybe open the chassis & ensure all drive cables are snug You should be able to tell if the drive is at least spinning (by the sound) - if it isn't, not much hope, but try switching its power connector just in case We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true
