Subject: Cannot reinstall Win MEOS: Win MECPU/Ram: 666/120Manufacturer/Model: Intel |
Comment: Hi, I´m having problems reinstalling Windows ME on my computer. I have formatted the hard drive using the startup disk. I insert the startup disk and from the "ME startup menu" I choose "start computer with CD-Rom support". The process starts with "preparing to start the computer" and so on, but suddenly the process ends at the DOS prompt! I have done this procedure many, many times before without problems. Can anyone please explain what is wrong? I appreciate any help! Martin

Reply: It's supposed to stop at the DOS prompt...and just before it does, it displays a message telling you what letter to use for the optical drive. Simply change to that letter, type SETUP & press [enter]

Reply: Thanks for the input. The process ends with "your CD-rom is drive F". I change the prompt to F:\setup and press enter. Then I get the following error message: "CDR101 Not Ready Reading Drive F".
What´s wrong? I appreciate the help! Martin
