Subject: Replacing Windows XP product keyOS: XPCPU/Ram: 1.5Gz, 512mbManufacturer/Model: Sony Vaio |
Comment: I have had this problem for a while now, I had a friend of mine re-install Windows XP Pro on my desktop computer. Ever since then it has given me the Purchase a Genuine Windows License. Now, that I am back in school, I am a part of the MSDN Alliance website where I can get free Microsoft products, mostly limited, but Windows XP Pro is on there. Getting to it, my Question, is there a way to install/insert/replace the new product key on Windows XP Pro without me having to boot off the cd to do it??

Reply: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/... This is microsofts key changer.
Magic jelly bean is also another key changer, but I think it's a reverse engineered version of mS's.
I load a lot of computers using a vlc cd and then change the key using Microsofts key changer. 95% are excepted by microsoft and the system validated. Hope this helps. If in school...do they offer the student version of xp? It is a full version and is preactivated....lol vlc should be vlk....but I can't spell

Reply: Wait for other suggestions, because I can't confirm the one I am pointing you to works. Check out: http://articles.techrepublic.com.co... It has a method that corrupts the current Product Key, which de-activates the system. Then you go to Microsoft and re-activate the system with your valid Product Key. It sounds pretty good to me, but I suggest backing up first, if you try it. (edit) Oops, I'm too slow (as usual). :-)

Reply: I have the steps to change a legitimate key that's stopped working. If anyone wants them, email me. "So won’t you give this man his wings What a shame To have to beg you to see We’re not all the same What a shame" - Shinedown
