I have my business computer set up so there is my windows xp admin user account then my employee accounts. I have files i don't want them to get to so when i log off my xp account and sign my employee in, it won't let me open Quick Books Point Of Sales. It says that it is already running and i need to close it first to open it on my employee account. How can i fix this? I've also tried rebooting the computer and initially signing in on the employee account but i still get the same message. Thank you in advance for your help

darkknight2k3, sounds to me like your machine's doing precisely what you want. When an employee is signed on, he can't access your private files. Are we talking two separate terminals here, or the same one? If separate, have him log on as himself at his terminal and the system should be able to keep the two identities separate.
If we're talking about the same terminal, the last sign on is dominant and that one (his) can't see the files.

you're right it is preventing my employees from getting in the files i don't want them in, but i do what them to be able to access quickbooks point of sales. it's the one terminal i have at my retail store and everything is run off of quick books point of sales. so since they can't open it, i am stuck signing them into my admin account which i don't want to do. even restarting my computer and initially signing in the employee account, i still get the message that QBPOS is already running. which doesn't make sense and leads me to believe it has something to do with QBPOS startup. i've tried disabling QB start up processes but still the same problem

darkknight2k3, possible you could maybe put that one file in a separate folder and then grant them full access to that folder with full rights? That should let them do what needs to be done and still protect private files without your intervention.
